Thomas Jefferson Preparatory School

TJP is a non-profit, co-educational school offering a challenging academic curriculum with emphasis on technology and individual mastery in small class sizes.

We provide programs for Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade, in core subjects such as Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science with technology incorporated into each subject and lesson. TJP nurtures the whole child by including Art, Music, Physical Education, Foreign Language, Technology, and Drama into our students' meaningful experience in education.

The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth honored Thomas Jefferson Preparatory School with a CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION IN INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS AND VERBAL TALENT!  TJP is Maryland State and SEVIS Certified.

TJP emerged as the now-independent private school extension from the Jefferson Montessori School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. In the fall of 2007, we opened our doors to former Jefferson School families and to the Darnestown and surrounding communities. 

Although we are not a Montessori school (only Pre-K/K), TJP embraces many of the philosophies for independent, interactive learning and teaching to individual mastery encompassed within a Montessori private education.
